Young Indian devotees of Hindu God, Lord Krishna fall while attempting to break a 'dahi-handi' during a festival in Mumbai on August 14 as part of celebrations of 'Janmashtami' which marks the birth of Hindu God Lord Krishna. Scores of Lord Krishna devotees take part in the celebrations during which a large earthenware pot is filled with milk, curds, butter, honey and fruits and suspended from a height of between 20 to 40 feet. Young boys and girls come forward to claim this prize by constructing a human pyramid, which is tall enough to enable the topmost person to reach the pot and claim the contents after breaking it. Normally, local currency notes is also tied to the pot and this prize money is distributed among the team which breaks the pot. This week, the Maharahstra state government urged the public to celebrate the festival "low-key" amid fears of the spread of swine flu virus across the region. Two people have died in Mumbai and 12 in Pune city, about 120 kilometers south-east of Mumbai this month. About 2,000 people have been confirmed to have the virus across the country, the health ministry has said. AFP PHOTO/ Sajjad HUSSAIN Get premium, high resolution news photos at getty
