Rubia tinctorum Roots of this hardy perennial herb have been used for centuries to produce a red dye. Harvest roots and rhizomes of three-year-old plants in the spring and autumn. Grow plants in full sun and average soils. Loose soils will increase root growth and make for easy harvest. 2 plants will dye 4 ounces of wool. Height and spread 2’ x 2’.
