I'm planning a half sleeve with these elements but I am not sure whether to go leg (thigh) or upper arm. I am a slim female, so the thigh would offer significantly more real estate, but I'm not sure as I'm fond of the arm half sleeve. Please offer advice!

Any ideas on how to achieve this cowl neck/off shoulder look? Would it be possible to make a bias slip with a corset back and drape this over top? Or would I have to have a lining layer? I have a phobia of zippers so any construction advice appreciated
